Mucous and Motherhood

How much of motherhood is taking care of little sickies? How much of what is inside all of us comes to the fore when we are ill?

We moms get to deal with all of it. The bile, the crap, the slimy, the stinky, the retching, the snarking, the sputum. All the bad stuff has to come out before we feel better, so out it comes! Coughed out, sneezed out, blown out; out it comes and you better dodge it or it will be all over....you. It's a heinous job, but it has to be done. Someone has to administer foul tasting tonics, wipe noses, clean up the splatter. Someone has to pray for the fever to lift, for the soup to stay down, for the bathroom to stay clean for just five minutes (please!) Someone has to feel grateful when the bugs are eradicated for a blessed short week when no one complains of the latest virus.

And when mom is the sicky? You don't want to know.

I just hate being sick. Another 4 or 5 days should do it I think.

Atleast 5. Here's the mommy tonic recipe: Breakfast in bed, with drug of choice (coffee or tea), Laundry done AND put away, Homework done AND put away, meals brought in via family, friends or the to go menu on the fridge and last but not least a great book and a box of kleenex! I hope you get to feeling better very soon! P.S. If it's green, the doctor is to be seen, if it's clear, then the kids can come near! Get well soon!
